# Bank & Credit Card Statement Converter — Documentation & FAQ

Documentation for [Bank & Credit Card Statement Converter](https://www.razi.pro/tools/statement-converter) — Turn a bank or credit card statement PDF into a clean CSV or Google Sheets paste, with every transaction categorised and the totals checked against the statement itself.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I convert a bank statement PDF to Excel or Google Sheets?

Choose your statement PDF above. The transactions are read out, categorised, and shown in a table. Download them as a CSV to open in Excel, or use 'Copy for Sheets' and paste straight into an open Google Sheet — amounts arrive as numbers, not text, so your SUM formulas work immediately.

### Is my bank statement uploaded anywhere?

No. For the banks listed below, the PDF is read inside your browser tab and never sent to a server. The password, if your statement needs one, is used locally too. Nothing about the statement is stored or logged.

### Which banks are supported?

Commercial Bank of Dubai, Mashreq, Wio and First Abu Dhabi Bank in the UAE, and Axis Bank in India — including the Flipkart Axis, IndianOil Axis Rupay and Axis Neo cards. Password-protected PDFs are handled for all of them. Other banks are not recognised yet; if yours is missing, say so and it goes on the list.

### Does it work for Indian bank statements?

Axis Bank credit card statements are read today and billed correctly in rupees rather than being assumed to be dirhams. Axis prints its own merchant category on each line, so Indian merchants are categorised from that rather than guessed at. Axis savings account statements are not supported yet — only credit cards.

### My statement is password-protected. Will that work?

Yes. You will be asked for the password, and it is used in your browser to open the file — it is never sent anywhere and never stored. Because every bank builds the password differently, the prompt shows the forms your bank is known to use, most likely first. Widely circulated lists of 'the' format per bank are often wrong, so several options are offered rather than one confident answer.

### I do not know my statement password. What is it?

It is something you already know, rearranged. The most common forms are the first four letters of your name in capitals followed by your birthday as DDMM (ROHA1508), your date of birth as DDMMYYYY, your customer ID from the bank, or the last four digits of your card. Upload the statement and the prompt will show which of these your bank tends to use. If none work, the password is set in your banking app or printed in the email the statement arrived with.

### How do I know the numbers are right?

Every statement is checked against its own arithmetic. The transactions that were read must add up to the closing balance the bank printed. If they do not, you are told the statement does not reconcile and by how much, rather than being handed a clean-looking file with a row quietly missing. Statements that do not print their own balances are marked as unchecked rather than passed.

### Are the spending categories accurate?

Categories come from a map of several thousand real merchant descriptions built from years of UAE transactions, so local names — including the misspellings banks print, like 'CRREFOUR-MAF' — are recognised. Anything unrecognised is left blank rather than guessed at, and you can fill it in yourself.

### Does it handle foreign currency transactions?

Yes. Where the statement shows what the merchant originally charged, both the billed amount and the original amount and currency are kept in separate columns, so a USD subscription on an AED card is not recorded as an AED one.
