# How to Split a Storyboard Into Separate Images

Split a storyboard, contact sheet or scanned photo page into separate image files using AI panel detection. Handles uneven panels that grid splitters cut through. Free, no signup.

## Steps

1. Go to the Image Splitter tool
2. Upload your storyboard page, contact sheet or scanned photo page (one image at a time)
3. Under 'Splitting Mode', choose 'AI Auto-Detect (Storyboards & Panels)'
4. Leave the grid inputs alone — choosing a grid mode means the detector never runs
5. Pick your output format: PNG, JPEG or WebP
6. Click 'Split Image' and wait for the vision model to find the panels
7. Check the panel count in the status line against the panels you can see on the page
8. Download the ZIP of separated images

## Tips

- Use AI Auto-Detect for uneven panels; use a grid mode only when the tiles really are equal
- Detected boxes are axis-aligned — straighten a tilted scan before splitting, not after
- Filenames are not zero-padded, so panel_10 sorts before panel_2 in alphabetical listings
- The image is uploaded for processing and sent to a vision model, so avoid confidential pages
- There is no batch mode — a multi-page storyboard book is one run per page
