Some tools cost real money every time they run. Video, audio and PDF work runs on a media server, and the AI tools call paid AI services. Without limits, one person or one bot could use up what everyone else relies on. Limits also stop abuse. A free link shortener or file host on a trusted domain is useful to spammers, so those tools are limited more tightly. Most limits are counted per internet connection. Everyone on the same network, such as an office or a school, shares the same count. These are the messages the site sends: - "Rate limit exceeded" is the most common one. - "Rate limit exceeded. Try again in a minute." appears when you share files as links too quickly. - "Rate limit exceeded. Please try again later." comes from the sticker maker, the SEO analyzer and the prompt lab. - "Too many requests" or "Too many requests. Please wait a moment." comes from the AI writing tools. - "Free guest limit reached (3 per hour). Sign in with Google for higher limits!" comes from the email drafter and the SQL builder. - "Anonymous upload capacity is temporarily exhausted. Sign in for dedicated limits." means the site-wide ceiling for uploads without an account was reached. - "A quick human check is required before uploading. Please complete the verification and retry." means the human check has not been done for your connection. - "Daily screenshot limit reached" and "Daily publish limit reached (3/day)" are the daily caps. - "Too many statement extraction requests. Please wait a minute before trying again." comes from the statement converter. - "Too many attempts. Wait a moment and try again." comes from PeerDrop pairing. File size limits have their own messages, such as "File too large (max 50MB)", "File size must be under 4MB. Compress the video first, then try again." and "Image size must be less than 10MB". Some tools show a general failure message instead of the exact reason. ## When a limit resets A limit does not reset on the hour. Its clock starts with your first request. - An hourly limit clears one hour after the first request that counted toward it. - A per-minute limit clears within a minute. - The screenshot daily limit clears 24 hours after your first screenshot. - The YouTube Studio daily limits clear at midnight UTC. - A solved human check lasts 30 minutes. After that you are asked again. If you keep hitting the same limit, wait for it to clear rather than retrying straight away. Retries count too. ## Frequently asked questions ### Why do some limits go up when I sign in? A signed-in request is tied to an account, so it is harder to abuse. The email drafter and the SQL builder allow 3 requests an hour as a guest and 15 a minute once you sign in. Signed-in uploads also skip the human check and the site-wide ceiling for anonymous uploads. ### When does an hourly limit reset? One hour after the first request that counted toward it, not at the top of the hour. Per-minute limits clear within a minute. ### I only used a tool once. Why am I already limited? Most limits are counted per internet connection. If other people on your network, such as colleagues in the same office, use the same tool, you share one count. ### Is there a size limit on PeerDrop? Direct transfers between two browsers have no size limit. Browsers that cannot save straight to disk hold the transfer in memory and accept about 1.5GB. Sharing a file as a link is limited to 50MB, and files sent to an AI agent to 1GB each. ### How long do shared files last? Files shared as a link are deleted 7 days after upload.
